Mike and Carol Shipley fell in love with the Florida Keys decades ago. They made a commitment to one day own and operate a small motel in this unique part of the world. Their dream came true in December of 2000, when they purchased the Island Bay Resort. Mike and Carol have always loved the ocean. They are both avid divers, certified since 1982. They both made their first ocean dive in the Florida Keys. Mike and Carol have also become avid fishermen. They frequently fish both offshore or the backcountry. They own both a flats and deep-water boat, so they have extensive knowledge of the upper Keys waters. Mike and Carol take frequent trips throughout the Keys, taking photographs and exploring the islands and surrounding waters. They have a vast knowledge of the area and are happy to make suggestions or give advice. Together, Mike and Carol have 50 years in the hospitality business.
